New Year, Same Game
(Opinion) It's a ridiculous show in Congress, as several larger truths emerge. The Republicans are a mess. The glaring absence of responsible leadership is all too obvious. Plainly stated but true, establishment McCarthy represents weakness and the past. So, the pushback against him isn't surprising. Donald Trump's ignored endorsement strongly suggests his clout within the party is history, if the mixed bag in the mid-term election didn't also confirm it. Hershel Walker lost against a weak opponent. The Trump Era is over with, and now the party has an identity crisis. Both Democrats and Republicans have been in serious combat with their fringe members. But, both parties also continue to harbor and uplift truly slimy weasel types like Green and Shiff and Goetz- there are so many moral lowlifes in public office, few are actually honest or honorable. The Speaker fight will soon resolve with an eventual winner, likely McCarthy, which won't end the chaos. The bruised ...
